Hey Guys,
Well Lyn & I just got back from Jersey City, New Jersey shooting a beautiful Indian wedding.
What an insane trip! We where so warn out on the way because our flight and everybody in the airport was canceled. We where so worried that we would not get there in time for the wedding. So this is how it all began, Lyn arrived at the studio at 3 in the morning then we drove out to Jackson, Mississippi and flew out at 6. When we get into the Memphis airport at 7:40. So we are sitting there in the next gate and they say this flight has been canceled and we where like OH BOY.

So we call the rebooking agent and they say "we can get you out by 6:30 tomorrow morning and I was like HECK NO LOL! The only thing they could do was get us out of the airport by 6:30 in the evening the same day which by that time we where like ok that will work because we HAVE to be there by tomorrow to shoot the wedding which started at 10:00. So we wait for 10 hours on layover finally board and everything goes fine HEHE but its not over LOL they lost Lyn "my assistants luggage.

So my friend Darrell runs to the other airport "Newark" where we originally where to fly into but they had to route us to Lagaurdia in New York. So we finally get everything together and by that time its 10:30 at night lol. The night was not over lol we did not get into our hotel till 2:30 because of some rental car issues. LOL,so that was our insane first day which lasted 23 HOURS LOL!

So we woke up and shot one of the coolest Indian weddings.It was on a HUGE dock right on the Hudson River at the Hyatt. So the scene was beautiful. Our bride, Jasmine & our groom Apu where so cool and full of life. They had the most interesting clothing full of color! So the whole day went great and was an amazing wedding. So your probably wondering WHY the heck is the title of the post " YOU CRUSHED MY COOKIES, " well it all has to do with on the way home. We flew into Detroit and as we where getting our bags out a man cussed at me and held a bag up and said," YOU CRUSHED MY COOKIES." I looked at him and just had no idea what to say I mean your going to cuss at me since you being a nut case stuck a plastic bag full of cookies up in the overhead baggage area. I could not say anything I was about to die laughing lol. Anyways, Lyn said "Sorry we crushed your cookies," so for the remainder of the trip Lyn and I laughed the WHOLE TRIP about what we could have said. And just the simple thing of the guy saying," You crushed my cookies" was SO FUNNY! You guys know that flying can be insane sometimes and you have to learn to make the best out of a trip and just laugh and think about how easy you have it compared to other people that have so MANY other problems in life. Also learn to be nice to the airport people they are not the ones causing the issues its the flight company itself. All of our issues that day were because of the computer crash in Atlanta that just about caused riots in the airports all over the US for 2 days. So just remember to make the most of bad situations and learn to laugh at some of the CRAZIE things people say to you like, " YOU CRUSHED MY COOKIES."

Hey Guys,
Well I know its been way too long since I posted. Its just been soo busy with getting all these projects out the door the blog HAD to wait. Anyways me and Lyn are leaving tommrow to head to Arkansas to do a really cool wedding in Bentonville "Home Of Walmart". We are going to be working with an amazing couple who both work as executives at walmart headquarters! They are so cool to work with, they are full of life and are a blast to be with. Both of them have amazing stories of how they met and how he came to write this song. The song is about he never thought he could have her as a wife. But as you can see things changed and they fell in love!

A couple weeks ago we drove to Little Rock, Arkansas to shoot their really cool music video where Mark "The Groom" had written and produced a song for Paulin" The Bride". Its a really cool video that we can't wait for you guys to see. I can't show you any pics of the bride in her dress because Mark is not allowed to see her till the wedding day HA! But I can show you a screen shot from the actual video of them together in different outfits. This video was shot in HD as part of the CINEMATICBRIDEHD package. Its amazing how beautiful the footage turned out we are able to do so much more in HD its simply amazing!
The video should come out sometime on sunday or next monday to the blog!

Lyn & I are so excited about all the cool places in the world we are getting to go this year--over 15 weddings all over the US and even International. It's very exciting! It's such a blessing to have so many amazing people hire us to film their special day!

A Moment with Me Ra's Father

WEDDING TRAILER

Hey Guys,
About two weeks ago, Lyn and I headed out to do a wedding on a rainy Saturday morning. We were really nervous about the weather because the wedding was outside of the bride Lindsey's house. Regardless, Lyn and I drove up and the setting was so beautiful with the dark clouds and the feel of a country-style wedding. We started filming as Lindsey got ready, and later we were able to capture some great shots of her running through the cool field and viewing the beautiful landscape. As the time for the ceremony approached and for everything to begin, it was still rainy and dark-looking. Of course, though, we proceeded as normal despite the threat of rain. As soon as the couple said their vows, the sky opened up and the sun broke through over the hill--it was a m a z i n g and the timing was perfect. It was as if the heavens opened up the moment they made their vows between each other.

After the ceremony, we headed to the back of the house to film the reception, which was really nice. Tents dotted the landscape. They had really GOOD looking cakes and a variety of desserts. They even had some that they mixed up on top of a fire with ice cream, cake, etc.--I never can remember what that is called! lol. Lyn and I both had a great time filming the day. Lindsey & Lee were great to work with along with their really nice photographer, Mary Dawson, from www.mdawsonphoto.com.

Outside weddings are always so beautiful because of the amazing colors we are able to capture during the day and the way the light causes shadows in different times of the day. I am a big fan of natural lighting--I find it so romantic and very pleasing to the eyes. Anyways, I hope you guys like the trailer for their wedding. I really went with a vintagy, dark feel to it which I believe complimented the weather that day!

I just had to share my excitment with you guys!

Seattle Project

Hey Guys,
As some of you know (and as I briefly mentioned in my last post), I was gone for a week working on an amazing project in Seattle that I am a part of with http://www.merakoh.com.
It's exciting to see this project come to life in so many amazing ways. I had a wonderful time with Me Ra, Brian, and their children, Pascaline and Blaze.
For the project, we also flew out my best friend from Chicago, Kendal Miller, who owns Lighthouse Media (www.lmpstudios.com). Kendal is an amazing Director of Photography who is full of l i f e. Check out his work--it's amazing! Kendal has taught me so many things and he is one of the reasons that I am where I am today. HE ROCKS!

Anyways, we had some really intense days full of hard work! Some of the days we would pull in over 16 hours of non-stop work.
After it was all over, I think all of us slept for several days :), but everything was totally worth the work! Post-production on my end has begun. It's amazing to see every little piece come together to make a wonderul project. As I promised yesterday, here is a short glimpse into seeing what Me Ra & Brian's kids are like! THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL KIDS and they both are full of life

Mmmmm...Trail Mix :)

So I thought about dedicating a whole post to talk about my love for trail mix, but then I decided that would be kinda boring. ;)

Instead, why don't we talk about something a bit more exciting than peanuts, raisins, and chocolate and shift our focus to congratulating my friends over at Me Ra Koh Photography on being the feautured photographers on Microsoft's website!!!

SIDE NOTE: If we threw a party here in my studio for Me Ra and Brian, trail mix would be involved. YUM.

I've had the honor of working with Me Ra and Brian, the geniuses behind Me Ra Koh Photography, and they continue to inspire me and encourage me to go beyond my limits. They are an a m a z i n g couple photography team out in Tacoma, Washington. If you'll remember back to last summer, Me Ra and Brian are the team who asked me to shadow them as they photographed a wedding in Maui to make a promotional video for them. I have Me Ra and Brian to thank for so much, so here is my public declaration of gratitude--THANK YOU!!

A few weeks ago, I flew out to their side of the country to spend some time working with them on a project. We are partnering together to put out a DVD this April that is geared towards moms who desire to learn how to better document the lives of their children. Me Ra has written a couple of great posts on her blog describing our DVD "adventure". If you venture over to her blog, you can see a couple photos of me in action.

Lately I've been pouring over the hours of footage that I shot while up in Washington State. I was able to capture some timeless and, in my opinion, priceless footage of Me Ra and Brian's children, Pascaline and Blaze. I've already pretty much finished a short video dedicated to them, but decided that I will post it TOMORROW (insert evil villian laughter) for your viewing pleasure and critique! So...check back tomorrow for a new video! :)

We had an amazing time shooting Sunni & Greg's wedding. Their wedding was full of a very romantic atmosphere far beyond anything you can imagine--an atmosphere that reminds us of what true love is and how important love is in the world. I challenge each and every one of you to find the love, to find that intimate beautiful love God has given each of us. My assistant and I truly loved filming Sunni & Greg's wedding. I believe Sunni has been one of the most influentual persons in my business. Her bridal session is what brought my business into a new realm and brought my mind to a new plane. THANKS Sunni for being willing to try anything!

We went with a vintage, modern style with this wedding because we felt like it complimented Sunni & Greg!

Something that you may already know about me is that I LOVE music. I love to come across another artist who is on a path of perfecting their craft. I often use music, in addition to other things, to inspire me in my own work. Well a few months ago a friend of mine introduced me to Benjamin Clark's music...and I loved it from the beginning! Sorry about the delay on cinematiceffect.com. As always, it's been busy around here EDITING WEDDINGS. Lyn, Kenneth, and I are hard at work. In addition to editing, we are preparing for designer Craig Taylor & his wife Ulia (from www.craigtaylorshirts.com) to fly in, as well as model Lisa Bull from Kim Dawson Modeling Agency. They are all coming in to do the new fashion shoots for Craig's Fall '07 line. Yes, the fashion world prepares way in advance! We are going to have a blast!

2007 Louisiana Wedding Showcase

Hey Guys,
We got back in from Jacksonville, Florida late last night after a disaster of a flight. Our local airport always seems to be having something wrong with it! To tell you how small of a town that I live in, our airport only has 1 terminal LOL! Anyways, apparently someone cut the powerline to all of the runway lights at the Monroe Airport, so they had to re-route us to Shreveport (which is an hour and a half away from where I live). We then had to ride buses to the Monroe Airport, and we were not allowed to get our luggage (even though it was on the bus) until we got to the airport because of some type of FAA regulation. Anyways, now we are all on our way to Baton Rouge to do a bridal fair called "2007 Louisiana Wedding Showcase". For those brides who are down in Baton Rouge and would like to talk to us about filming your wedding, come see us at our booth! We would love to see you! The bridal fair is on Sunday beginning at noon and lasting until 5:00 pm. This bridal fair is huge and usually has 180 vendors with over 1,300 brides going through it!

I had such an awesome time and made a lot of friends!

Hey Guys!!!
Just a bit of any update...
You may already know, but right now I am in Jacksonville, FL, preparing for my speaking engagement at the 4EVER Group's Video '07 Conference. To cut straight to the point, I am having an absolute BLAST!!! I have met so many top-of-the-line videographers who have shared so much of their knowledge with me. Not only are these people super talented, but they are so nice--I have made many amazing friends that I am excited about getting to know more over time. Tonight I had the opportunity to go to dinner with the videographers behind Picture This Productions and Cinematic Studios. Afterwards, they got together and prayed for me since I am speaking tomorrow, Thursday. I am excited to get to share a little with the rest of the conference attendees!

Its been very busy here! We are trying to get ready for this year.

I have the honor of speaking at the 4EVER Group's Video '07 Conference which is being held in Jacksonville, FL January 8-11, 2007. My presentation is called "Close Your Eyes and Open Your Mind!".

I also feel honored to be able to present alongside many of the video industry's greatest--Robert Allen, Maureen Bacon, Randy Stubbs, Luisa Winters, Glen Elliott, Darrell Aubert, and Philip Hinkle. I will be speaking on Thursday, January 11th, in the afternoon.

So I was working away one day and someone ran thru my door from 88.7fm The Cross a local Christian radio station that is located in the same building as my studio.
And they said " I NEED YOU TO COME OVER HERE PLEASE!" They needed me to say a couple of words for a radio spot for one of the DJ's I thought it was soooo funny getting to do something like this and hearing myself on the radio. LOL! Jasveen and Serb's wedding in Arizona

I mentioned a few posts back that I had gone to Arizona to film a wedding alongside the talented photographer, Rebecca Bouck. This was my first time to experience a Sikh Indian wedding, which usually last about 4 days. We had many different symbolic ceremonies to document throughout the week.

For example...
**The bride and groom had a yellow paste (made out of turmeric powder) applied to their skin to cleanse it before the wedding day.
**The bride, Jasveen, also had mehendi (henna paste) applied to her hands--check out the picture with intricate drawings on her hands.

Jasveen and Serb's families were wonderful people full of laughter and happiness. They really know how to enjoy weddings! Family and friends came from all over for the ceremony--some from the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and some from the Punjab state in India. The men wore turbans and the women wore beautiful saris--my gosh, the colors were absolutely amazing!!! I can't wait to get to show you a glimpse of the footage I got!! Southern Heritage Ball Night

Last night a group of friends and I went to a Southern Heritage Ball. Our group met at my friends' house and then headed to the American Legion Hall in town. The night was full of antebellum charm and music heard during the Civil War period. We learned many of the dances traditional to that time period such as, the Virginia Reel, the Spanish Waltz, and the Hat dance. Surprisingly, the dances were really cool and lots of fun! We all had a blast and will never forget that night! The girls wore different antebellum style dresses and the guys wore tuxedos or other types of old style clothing.
I never thought I would enjoy dancing or even going to something like this, but GOSH I had such a blast--it was so amazing!

Chris Allums' Kids

I did a photoshoot for my very good friend and client, Chris Allums. Chris is the "star" of the Dixi Furniture Commericals (October 24 post) that I put together a few weeks ago. He needed pictures of his children for their Christmas cards, and he needed them PRONTO! I was left a little disappointed because we had to do them all in the studio due to the weather. The temperature went from like 80 to 40 in a matter of a few hours plus, it had rained that day, and the wind was blowing so hard.

Anyways, the photoshoot had a dual purpose--to get Christmas pictures and to capture some new photos of his son James Christopher who is a very special boy. Please be praying for him--he is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Chris and his family will be moving to Manhatten so that James Christopher can undergo the process of getting the transplant done and recovering. I noticed he is a very strong young boy and is FULL of life. Even though I cannot imagine what he is going through, I know he is so strong. This boy has a black belt in karate! Again, please be praying for him and his wonderful family as they get ready for change in their lives.

As you can see, all of Chris' kids are VERY photogenic! Each one has a unique character and personality that shines through in these photos!

Craziness, absolute CRAZINESS!!!!

About 2 weeks ago, a couple of my friends came to hang out with the super famous and talented Tim Co.! Josiah Kennedy, a local photographer (who also happens to be very talented!), and my friend Kelli Gremillion, who just graduated from college (woo hoo! go Kelli!), came in town from nearby Ruston. We went to one of my favorite local restaurants called The Chateau. Of course, having so many photographers hanging out, we just HAD to document the night. After we ate dinner, we headed out (on a really cold night) to get, of all things, ICE CREAM! Of course, at nearly 10 pm, almost all ice cream shops were closed, but we were able to catch Maggie Moo's RIGHT before they closed. :) I must say, the night was adventurous and fun!

Now for the pictures...we all had our hands on the camera throughout the night, so these are a compilation of everyone's work. The Chateau is really dark inside, but it made for some cool effects.

The ambience of The Chateau is very unique, kind of mystical...the lighting and the decorations all add to a really cool experience.

No, the food wasn't bad! LOL Just Tim and Josiah goofing off!

UPDATE on my life...and Glimpse of Jeananne & Joel's Wedding!

Hey Guys,
WHEW! I'm sorry for the lack of posting over the last few weeks!! I've been quite busy caught up in a whirlwind of traveling all over the country (or so it feels!). Here's the low-down:
**From November 6-9 I was in Chatanooga, Tennessee for a photographers' convention--with some HIGHLY talented photographers from all over the U.S. (pics still to come).
**November 10-12 I spent some time in Atlanta, Georgia. That weekend I had the opportunity of shooting a wedding alongside Liana Lehman at the Biltmore. Crystal Goss from Arkansas was also there to document the event. To see a few pictures from that wedding, check out the post on November 15th.
**I arrived back home from Atlanta on November 12th and spent the next week with my good friend Tim Co., working hard here in Monroe, Louisiana. Tim and I took bridal portraits of Jeananne, and we were able to get some awesome shots--check some of them out on the November 16th post. We also photographed her wedding on Saturday--the pictures of which are featured in this post!!
**After being at home for a week, I flew out on November 20th to Scottsdale, Arizona to film a wedding alongside the gifted photographer Rebecca Bouck. I spent nearly a week in Arizona. The wedding we captured was a Sikh ceremony for a beautiful couple--Sikh ceremonies usually last about 4 days! Coming in the next week or two, I will have some footage to show you of this wedding!

OK, now for a few shots from Jeananne and Joel's wedding that I shot with Tim on November 18th. This wedding was truly beautiful wedding, and I was honored to work with such a wonderful couple! Joel is from South Africa, and many of his family members flew in for their special day! These are just a few of the images...hopefully soon we'll have more to show!

I really love Arizona, I haven't been here before but its pretty neat and it really reminds me of Hawaii. I'll be posting more from Arizona as the wedding progresses, im so excited to be here!

Today was a bridal shoot with the beautiful bride Jeananne. My friend Tim, who is also a photographer, is in visiting from Florida this week. Jeananne's wedding is this weekend, and Tim will be shooting the wedding with me. I don't normally photograph weddings, but Jeananne is a family friend. Tim and I have had an awesome time so far this week, and today was no different! We went around Monroe and got some great pictures. Jeananne is bubbly, adventurous, and full-of-life! She was so easy to photograph!

BUSY TRIP!

Soon I will be posting about the happenings of this weekend and the next week.
This weekend my assistant Lyn and I are going down to New Orleans to film what should prove to be a very beautiful wedding in the French Quarter.
The next day we will rise early to drive me to Natchez, MS where I will be meeting up with a few photographer friends of mine--Katherine Tolentino www.katherinetolentino.com and

Tim Co. www.whatistimco.com. BOTH of these photographers are goof balls and are so much fun!

The three of us will make our way up to Chattanooga, TN to meet up with over 90 photographers from around the U.S. to get together, hang out, and LEARN LEARN LEARN--from Monday to Thursday!

Next I will travel with Liana Leham and Crystal Goss aka "MISS PREGNANT". Both are AMAZING and very popular photographers!

Finally, I head back to Louisiana and fly into New Orleans (where my car will be) and wait for TIM CO. to arrive. Tim and I will drive to Monroe where he will stay with me all week. The two of us will drive to Katherine Tolentino's house to visit and spend the night (possibly!). LASTLY, we will drive back to Monroe to do a few photoshoots and photograph a wedding on Saturday. Crystal Goss will be joining us to shoot the wedding that weekend here in Monroe. WHEWWWW!

BRIDES, DON'T WORRY, I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU! WE ARE EDITING RIGHT NOW AND WILL WORK TILL THE CRACK OF DAWN! LOL! While I am gone, the studio will be open and one of my assistants will be editing weddings! I will also be editing during all the driving that I'll be doing, finishing projects on-the-go on my...ding ding...brand new laptop! I love technology!

Here is Sunni Huggins' wedding trailer!
This is a vintage style trailer with old film styles (the flicker and coloring).
Sunni and Gregg got married in a small chapel at the Gardens of the American Rose Center in Shreveport, LA. At their reception, Gregg, who is a musician, joined in with the band to play a few songs. This couple is very much in love, and you can see it in the way they interact with one another. They were a great couple to work with!!

Yesterday evening I shot engagement pictures for my assistant Lyn and her fiance. Afterwards, we all went out to eat for dinner. As I was about to sit down, I hit my big toe on a stage and...be forwarned, this gets gruesome...almost my entire toe nail bent all the way back and started to bleed some! I was in so much pain during the night! I woke up in the morning still in excruciating pain, so my parents brought me to the doctor's office.
WARNING: DON'T LOOK AT THE PICTURES BELOW IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH...

I had to get a tetnis shot, a flue shot, an x-ray, and two painful shots in the toe. Now I'm waiting to find out if my toe is broken or not! Please pray for me because I am in pain!

Things don’t always work out the way we want them to, or the way we think they will. Sometimes we don’t even see it coming. We get hit with some form of pain out of nowhere leaving us feeling desperate and helpless. That’s the way life is. Still, it makes us wonder how God can let these things happen to us. How God can just stand by and watch us suffer. Where is God when it really hurts? Maybe God is actually closer to us than we think. Maybe it’s when we’re in these situations, where everything seems to be falling apart, that God gets an opportunity to remind us of how much he really loves us.

Awesome Weekend!

This weekend we ended up not having a wedding, so we did a bridal fair in northern Arkansas.
It was a really cool fair with Preston Baily. The other night we went to a big party they had for the vendors. The party was going really well, and all of a sudden, "The Shaq", Shaquille O'Neal, walks into the party. He was a giant and it was really cool to get to see him. Anyways, I got to meet some amazing people through the bridal fair!
I was able to meet Rick Henshaw from Cineastfilms, one of the vendors at the show! I really enjoyed meeting him and getting to hang out--it was alot of fun! He is an amazing videographer and an awesome new friend. I also got to meet Matt Jeppsen with www.freshdv.com who works with Rick. Matt is also a really awesome videographer and was alot of fun to talk with. They both are Brains! SO, SO SMART & REALLY ARTISTIC!

Also I would like to give special credit to kellymoore photography for letting me capture this awesome footage while shooting her promo video. She came up with some of the most amazing ideas and concepts and had all of this planned with the dressess and the brides! Naomi Carroll Christian Music Artist Slideshow

Around the same time that I did the shoot with Taylor Fife, I also did one with another musician, singer/songwriter Naomi Carroll. Naomi is a very talented singer who will be releasing a cd sometime soon -- she'll be using these images for her cd and website. Keep your ears open for her music on the radio! During this photoshoot, we were able to get some really fun and different images in various locations. We really had a lot of fun doing this shoot, so let me know what you think!

2006 Creative Excellence Awards at WEVA International -- I WON!!!!

The other night, I received word that I won SECOND PLACE in the 2006 Creative Excellence Awards at WEVA International!

Wedding and Event Videographers Association International (the name is self-explanatory!) holds a convention every year in Las Vegas, and this year they held a video competition. Towards the beginning of the summer, I entered two Bridal Elegance videos into their Bridal Spotlight Production Division.

Sunni Huggins' video won the award!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, SUNNI, FOR LETTING ME FILM YOU!
It's a HUGE HONOR to win second place in an INTERNATIONAL contest and to now be labeled an International Award-Winning Videographer!

Taylor Fife Country Music Band

A few weeks ago, I went out around town with a local band, Taylor Fife, to capture some new images for their website. They are planning on doing a “renovation” of their site and will be using some of these images. We were able to go to a couple of different locations but were limited in some aspects because it was SO HOT. No, I think it was beyond that, but we don’t have a word for it!! ;) Check out their stuff at www.taylorfife.com -- they were great to work with and were so patient with the heat!

A Glimpse 2

Well yesterday we finished the shoots with Craig Taylor Shirts.

We all had such a BLAST! Here is another glance of the model from the shoot. This model was perfect -- very natural and beautiful. I hope to work with more models as great as her in the future -- hopefully doing more fashion photography!

Later on we will put up a slideshow to give you an idea of how the shoot went!
